The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part
The LEGO film franchise has really taken off since the first film. For the record, I wasn’t a super huge fan of it. It had fun moments but was overall a little overrated for my taste Did not care for the LEGO Batman Movie or Ninjago as well. So here I was, dying in anticipation of course to see the sequel. Overall, its decent more or less of the quality of the first thought this felt a little overlong for some reason and had passages I felt could have been omitted.
The film takes place five years after the first where a group of Legos come and start abducting characters from the first film. This is for a marriage that is supposed to take place between the Queen of the Systar System and (you guessed it) Batman, however this event could cause an Armageddon for the legos. Emmet must learn how to toughen up and save his friends from doom.
The tone and musical elements remain from the first film. I’d say its more serious though not without comedic moments. Some of it was pretty funny, I think mostly through Batman who I quite enjoy. The film remains self aware ad brings forth another annoying earworm named Catchy Song. I feel like some of the plot points are fairly obvious and it took a little long to explain it to the audience.
There’s not much else I can say here. The animation is still at its height and the younger audience will certainly eat this up. The film adds more talent to its voice cast. If you loved the first one, you will probably love this film as well. I’m not crazy about the Lego franchise so I found this as passable entertainment. The Lego Movie 2 just about meets expectations.
